Starting from 1 January 2005, all Hong Kong issuers are required to report on the company's corporate governance practices. Many listed companies are concerned about the risk which may arise at any time and may even cause disastrous effect to the organization. There has been a growing demand for internal control in the market in these few years. To meet the needs of the market, SHINEWING has published a professional booklet namely <Practical Guide to Implementing Section C.2 on Internal Controls> in February 2007. The book serves as reference guide for the board of directors to provide a systematic tool for companies' internal audit function in setting up the internal controls systems and procedures. Our goal is to provide a step-by-step guide towards the understanding of how the review takes place and, more importantly, how to evaluate and interpret findings to form an evaluation of the overall status regarding controls and risks management.
More and more overseas corporations are investing in China since China's successful WTO entry. The economy and capital markets of China are heading towards globalization. The rapid development of China's economy has speeded up the pace of modification of its accounting systems in order to meet the needs of potential investors for more accurate, transparent, and reliable accounting information. In February 2007, The Chinese Ministry of Finance ("MoF") officially announced that Chinese Accounting Standards ("CAS") has been converged with International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS"). The new Chinese accounting standards are applicable for all listed companies with effect from 1 January 2007, while other companies are also strongly encouraged to adopt. In order to help worldwide investors to develop a better understanding and clear concept of the reform of CAS, we have published <CAS Convergence>. It highlights the key principles and provides a comprehensive interpretation of the new accounting standards. With this useful guide, investors can be more well-prepared and can foresee the impact of China market when it undergoes any fundamental changes.
