Mr. Andy Wong & Ms. Gloria So were invited to speak for CPA Australia on Internal Control 

[Hong Kong, July 2012] Mr. Andy Wong, Audit Partner and Ms. Gloria So, Risk Manager, were invited to speak in a seminar, organized by CPA Australia, on the topic of "IPO Readiness - Internal Control Systems", on 11 July 2012. The seminar provided an overview of the statutory requirements and guidelines on internal control of IPO projects, and sharing of practical experiences on planning an effective internal control system and corporate governance structure before listing. At the same time, they discussed the potential challenges on building the infrastructure of internal control system and corporate governance.

SHINEWING & ICAEW held a joint seminar "The CFO and the finance function: effectiveness, conflicts and corporate governance"

[Hong Kong, July 2012] SHINEWING (HK) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), had the first-time collaboration on co-oraganising a seminar, on the topic of "The CFO and the finance function: effectiveness, conflicts and corporate governance", on 29 June 2012.

Keynote speaker was Mr. Rick Payne, Head of Finance Direction Programme, Technical Strategy Department of ICAEW. In the seminar, Rick outlined the ICAEW's finance function framework as a practical tool to analyze and develop effective finance functions. He also provided real-life examples of conflict of interests that CFOs typically face and advice for dealing with them. At the end of the seminar, Rick discussed with the audiences the contribution CFOs and the finance functions can make to effective corporate governance.

The seminar was well-received by around 50 participants, including CFOs, company secretaries and finance managers. There were enthusiastic responses from the audiences in the Q&A session, as most of them were keen to exchange views with each other.

SHINEWING was invited by HKEx to speak at Roundtable Meeting at Chengdu

[Hong Kong, Jul 2012] Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEx”) collaborated with the Chengdu Financial Services Office to organize a “Roundtable Meeting on Listing and Fund Raising in Hong Kong for Chengdu Enterprises” at Chengdu on 25 July 2012 (Wednesday).

Mr. Roy Lo, our Deputy Managing Partner was invited to deliver a presentation on the topic of “IPO Readiness - Internal Control Systems”, with focus on measures of internal control and its implications. It highlighted the major issues on internal control that a potential issuer needs to be aware of. The talk was well – received by around 27 quality Chengdu enterprises from retailing and catering industries.

Mr. Angus Ho was invited to speak for Institute of China HR Management on Tax Rates 

[Hong Kong, July 2012] Mr. Angus Ho, Partner of Tax and Business Advisory Services, was invited to be the guest speaker in a seminar, organized by the Institute of China HR Management, on the topic of “Overview of Tax Rates of Salaries Tax in Hong Kong ", on 27 July 2012. Mr.Angus Ho talked about the overview of salaries tax in Hong Kong and analysed the issues related to income of individual employees under implementation of new taxation law.
