On 29 November 2011, The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (“HKIoD”) announced and honoured winners of the Directors Of The Year Awards (“DYA”) 2011 at the Annual Dinner of the Institute held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. More than 600 guests from different industries and sectors were there to celebrate the winners’ achievements in corporate governance excellence.

The evening was hosted by Dr Kelvin Wong, Chairman of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors with Professor K C Chan, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, as the Guest of Honour. SHINEWING (HK) CPA Limited fully support this event and Mrs. Alison Wong, Partner of Corporate Finance Services was also invited to be a guest on that night event.

SHINEWING Economic and Financial Seminar cum Specialist Advisory Services Anniversary Cocktail Party

SHINEWING Economic and Financial Seminar cum Specialist Advisory Services Anniversary Cocktail Party was taken place at the China Club in Central on 25 November 2011, as a token of our appreciation to the support from our clients.

We have specially invited Miss Fan Cheuk Wan, Managing Director and Head of Research Asia Pacific, Private Banking of Credit Suisse as our guest speaker in the seminar. She gave us an objective review on the current economic situation and analyzed how corporations could know the global economic trend well, better plan ahead for the future and fully grasp the opportunities under globalization and the complicated and changeable economic environment. It was also the 1st anniversary of the establishment of Specialist Advisory Services Team by the time, so a Cocktail Party was organized too.

The event was attended by the representatives from various companies, including non-executive directors, directors, financial controllers, securities brokers and lawyers. Particularly Mr. Liu Jingwei, Vice-President of Business Development Committee from the Beijing headquarter was also present at this occasion. The whole event was filled with delight and excitement.

The "Smart Way Forward" Programme 2010-2011

SHINEWING (HK), same as as the previous years, continued to pay full support in students' development this year. We participated in the educational support programme, "Smart Way Forward", jointly organized by the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs and Caritas Hong Kong, with the objective to give the participating secondary school students a better understanding of the accountancy profession and the business world.

We are pleasured to arrange a firm visit on 20 Dec 2011 for a group of Form 5 students from Leung Shek Chee College. We believe that through the field visit and our professional sharing can broaden the students' out-of-classroom knowledge while fostering their career aspirations. All students enjoyed this firm visit and raised a lot of questions in the Q&A session while our staff were delighted by their enthusiasm towards accounting industry. Lastly, the students thanked us for our warm welcome and gave us a hand-made thank you card with all their blessings!

Our Partner, Mr. Arthur Pang and Mr. Andy Wong, were invited to speak in a professional talk which was organized by the AUS Australia, on the topic of "Keys for successful IPO in Hong Kong", on 2 November 2011. The seminar include an overview of the companies listed in Hong Kong and a detailed explanation on the listing rules and regulations which lay the foundation for a successful IPO.

Mr.Roy Lo was invited to speak at a career talk of United International College

Mr. Roy Lo was invited by United International College (UIC), to speak in a career talk on the topic of "The operation and corporate culture of Hong Kong CPA firms”, on 25th November, 2011.

United International College (UIC), situated in Zhuhai and jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), is the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between the Mainland and Hong Kong. Its charter has been approved by the Ministry of Education with full support from local authorities.

Mr. Kenneth Chen and Mr. Terry Kan were invited to speak at HKICS

Our Partner of Specialist Advisory Services, Mr. Kenneth Chen, and Director of Specialist Advisory Services , Mr. Terry Kan, were invited to speak in a seminar, organized by The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries , on the topic of " Resolving Shareholders’ Disputes by Insolvency Administrations and Forensic Accounting Tools”, on 30 November 2011. The seminar include an overview of the common types of shareholders’ disputes, problems and issues; majority and minority shareholders; possible solutions; applications of insolvency administration tools and forensic accounting investigation skills.

Mr. Kenneth Chen was invited to speak at HKSFA

Our Partner of Specialist Advisory Services, Mr. Kenneth Chen was invited to speak in a seminar, organized by The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts, on the topic of “From CSI to Forensic Accounting”, on 10 December 2011. The seminar included an overview of forensic accounting, litigation support and expert Witness; roles and responsibilities; forensic accountants; application of forensic accounting - Civil and criminal cases and some case studies.

SHINEWING is awarded a certificate of being a Family-Friendly Employer

The 1st Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme 2011 Award Presentation Ceremony organized by Family Council, was taken place at the Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre on 3 November 2011. SHINEWING was awarded a certificate in recognition of its being a Family-Friendly Employer. Our partner Mrs Alison Wong, as a member of the Organizing Committee of the scheme, also received a certificate of appreciation presented by The Hon Stephen Lam Sui-lung, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration cum Chairman of the Family Council in the ceremony.

SHINEWING actively implements family-friendly policies and measures, and also takes appropriate arrangement taking care of the needs of our staff and their families, such as welfare about leave. All these aim to let our employees better make use of their time to fulfill their family responsibilities. SHINEWING also regularly organizes staff gatherings and joins the charity functions, to promote the concept of work-life balance, which could better equip our staff with better mental and physical conditions to carry out their family duties.

Alan Tang was invited to speak at “4th PRC Bankruptcy Law Symposium”

Organized by the Civil Court II of the Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China, All China Lawyers Association and the Bankruptcy Law Research Centre of Renmin University of China, undertaken by Civil Court II of Higher People’s Court of Beijing and Beijing Bankruptcy Law Society, co-organized by W&H Law Firm China, SHINEWING Certified Public Accountants and Beijing Enterprise Liquidation Company Limited, the 4th PRC Bankruptcy Law Symposium was taken place on 5-6th November, 2011 at Beijing Friendship Hotel.  Our partner, Mr. Alan Tang was invited to be a speaker at the event where he talked about theoretical and practical bankruptcy-related issues including lawful acceptance of the bankruptcy cases, merging and bankruptcy and reorganization, and bankruptcy legislation in the banking and financial institutions, etc.

Around 500 representatives attended the symposium, including justices from all over the country who judge bankruptcy cases, government officials from monetary authorities and other related administrative departments, specialists and scholars on bankruptcy law teaching and research, lawyers engaging in bankruptcy cases, registered accountants and liquidators, etc.

Mr. Roy Lo and Mr. Chan Wing Kit acted as guests at the Prize Presentation Ceremony 2011 of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education Kwun Tong and Chai Wan & Haking Wong respectively

The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Kwun Tong) had their Prize Presentation Ceremony on 3rd Dec, 2011, presenting scholarships to 56 deserving students.  After the welcome speech given by Dr Leung Ming Chu, Mandy, the school Principal, Mr. Roy Lo, our Deputy Managing Partner as a guest of honour delivered the keynote speech.  He stated that the Prize Presentation Ceremony was to affirm and appreciate the performance of every award recipient.  He encouraged students to work hard, striving for splendid achievements in different industries in the near future.  Meanwhile, he hoped that the school could continue to nurture more outstanding professionals for the society.  After that, Mr. Roy Lo presented the SHINEWING (HK) CPA Limited Scholarship to the student, Chau Ching Yi. 

Our partner Mr. Chan Wing also attended the Student Awards Presentation Ceremony of IVE (Chai Wan & Haking Wong) on the same day, delivering SHINEWING Scholarship to the student, Wong Hau Ying.

STAFF ACTIVITIES

HKICPA Football Competition 2011-2012

We had tight games in the HKICPA Football Competition 2011-2012. We had the first game with BUASA on 19th Nov and the second game with PwC FC on 4th Dec 2011, having a string of victories on the last 2 matches. on 18th Dec, we came to our third game with PwC United. With all our sweat, energy and blood, we gave so much pressure to our opponents.  Our SHINEWING players played strong on the offense and grasped every single opportunity to score.  The game finally ended with 0:2.

The fact that we entered into the Quarter Final, is already a glorious record to be marked in the history, and this is all the SHINEWING team members work closely together to make it happen.  In fact, we won Friendship, Confidence and Team Spirit, everything are hard-earned!!!

Although our path to the Champion is to be strived in long run, our fire of passion and determination would never be down, and would keep us moving forward!! In the coming years, we will certainly do the best!
