Ms. Helen Lee & Ms. Gloria So were invited to speak in CPA Australia on Corporate Governance

 

[Hong Kong, May 2012] Ms. Helen Lee, Risk Principal and Ms. Gloria So, Risk Manager, were invited to speak in a seminar, organized by CPA Australia, on the topic of "Review of Corporate Governance Code and Associated Listing Rules", on 10 May 2012.

The seminar provided an overview on the corporate governance environment in Hong Kong and the major amendments on the Corporate Governance Code and Associated Listing Rules. They also shared the practical experiences on adopting the amendments.

[Hong Kong, June 2012] SHINEWING Specialist Advisory Services team organized a Forensic and Investigation Workshop, on the topic of “The ABCs of Forensic Accounting and Computer Forensics, and beyond...”, on 6 June 2012.

More and more legal proceedings and investigations require advice from accounting firms drawing on their forensic accounting and computer forensic expertise. In the workshop, Ms. Anita Hou, Partner of Specialist Advisory Services, and Mr. Matthew Chu, Senior Manager of Specialist Advisory Services, explained their roles and how forensic accountants and computer forensic experts provide professional and unbiased services in such legal processes.

 

 

 

 


 

 

Mr. Roy Lo & Ms. Gloria So were invited to speak in HKICPA on Corporate Governance & Associated Listing Rules

 

[Hong Kong, June 2012] Mr. Roy Lo, Deputy Managing Partner and Ms. Gloria So, Risk Manager, were invited to speak in a seminar, organized by HKICPA, about Corporate Governance and Associated Listing Rules, on 13 June 2012.

Corporate governance is important in enhancing public confidence and trust, promoting competitiveness and ultimately improving the Company’s public image and values. The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited released amendments to the Corporate Governance Code and Associated Listing Rules of Main Board / GEM Board in October 2011 to promote the development of higher corporate governance standards in Hong Kong. Mr. Roy Lo and Ms. Gloria So were invited to talk about the implementation of revised Corporate Governance Code and Associated Listing Rules.

 

 

 


 

 

Mr. Alan Tang was invited to speak to train PRC Bankruptcy Judges

[Beijing, June 2012] Mr. Alan Tang, Partner and Head of SHINEWING Specialist Advisory Services, as a member of and together with a team of international trainers comprising judges, lawyers and scholars from Australia, Argentina, England, Italy, Spain and USA, were invited by The World Bank, International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and the PRC Supreme People's Court, to provide training for some 200 senior PRC bankruptcy judges in a World Bank sponsored training programme at the National Judges College at Beidaihe.

The theme for the 5-day programme was “Problems and Challenges of the Existing Bankruptcy Laws”.  Alan was invited to speak (in Putonghua) in two 4-hour sessions on the topics of “Administrators in the bankruptcy process” and “Economic foundations for the analysis and operation of bankruptcy law" respectively. 

 

 

 


 

 

Mr. Roy Lo was invited to speak in the admission Day of Centennial College

 

[Hong Kong, June 2012] The Centennial College organised a feature talk on “The career prospects of the accounting profession” on 23 June 2012. Mr Roy Lo was invited to attend and share his successful experience as a professional accountant. 

Centennial College is a new and independent member of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Group, is registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320). The College offers full-time self-financed, 4-year Bachelor degree programmes validated by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).
