Entry Point mentoring event

 

Mr. Kenneth Chen, Partner of Specialist Advisory Services, was invited to be one of the mentors in the new Entry Point event held at CPA Australia Hong Kong office on Thursday 1 March. The event was designed to give an overview of the advantages of becoming a CPA and offer useful career guidance. The first-ever "group mentoring session" was introduced, which was well received by thirty participants who are the Associate members.

Guest Lecture for SWP

 

Mr. Kenneth Chen, Partner of Specialist Advisory Services, was invited to deliver a guest lecture for MSc Forensic Audit and Accounting of University of Glamorgan, UK, which was organized by Sun Wah Pearl Linux Training and Development Centre (SWP). The course focused on the areas of Forensic Audit and Accounting, Computer Law, Corporate Governance, Computer Forensics and Crime Investigation and Research Methods.

Insolvency Course

 

Ms. Anita Hou, Partner of Specialist Advisory Services, was invited to speak in a profession course, organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), on the topic of “What is Insolvency”, on 17 March 2012. The course provided a broad overview on the definition of Insolvency, the objectives and principle of insolvency law. At the same time, it also explained the relationship between personal bankruptcy law and corporate insolvency law. Types of ORO and contacting out cases, roles of ORO and contracting out cases and role of liquidators were also coved in the seminar.

Legislative Council Building Guided Tour

 

Mr. Roy Lo, Deputy Managing Partner, together with the management of other CPA firms, were invited by Mr. Paul Chan Mo Po, MH, JP, Legislative Councillor (Accountancy), HKSAR, to attend the Legislative Council Building Guided Tour on 23 March 2012.They shared their feelings about visiting of the new building. At the same time, they exchanged their professional views on the development of the accounting industry.


The Legislative Council Building has served Hong Kong for nearly a century, having first been the High Court Building, and subsequently the Legislative Council Building before and after HK’s return to China. It has witnessed years of motion debates and passing of bills that made the history of our city. But this summer, the Legislative Council and the Secretariat will bid farewell to this monumental building.

Sharing at Business Software Development Contest

 

Ms. Gloria So, Risk Manager, was invited to attend a sharing session of “Business Software Development Contest”, which is the first large-scale event organized by ITAccountants Association (ITAA), and with SHINEWING as one of the sponsors. During this sharing session, a group of legislative council members, chamber of commerce, professionals of business and industry celebrities, including Gloria, were invited to share their ideas and experience with the students and teachers.
